Who Qualifies?

We use TEFAP guidelines, for the USDA TEFAP government commodities. But we never turn anyone away for our food pantry items.

Where does the
food come from?

Food is donated by schools, government surplus, churches, distributors, private entities, local businesses, and public food drives and private donations. Food is also donated and purchased from Food Bank of Wyoming. USDA (government commodities) are also donated monthly. Food is also picked up at the local stores by the Food Bank of Sweetwater County, through the Grocery Rescue Program with Food Bank of Wyoming and Feeding America.

Where does our
funding come
from?

A significant portion of our operational expenses is supported by the United Way of Southwest Wyoming. The City of Rock Springs provides in-kind support to the Rock Springs Food Bank by providing the facility and covering its utility costs. Similarly, Sweetwater County provides in-kind support to the Food Bank of Sweetwater County by providing the facility and covering utilities for the Green River Food Pantry.

The Green River Food Pantry also receives a major annual grant from the City of Green River. In addition, the Director continually researches available grant opportunities and submits applications to secure additional funding to support the Food Bank’s operations and programs.
